Soak Up Summer Evenings in North Devon
There’s nothing quite like a summer evening in North Devon — warm golden light, salty sea air and the freedom to slow down and savour it all. If you’re staying with us at North Hole Farm Holidays in Croyde, here are a few of our favourite ways to spend those long, golden hours.
Beach Takeaways at Sunset
Nothing says summer more than delicious food eaten on the sand. Luckily, North Devon has plenty of brilliant takeaways to make it easy:
-
South Street Food, right in the centre of Woolacombe, serves up fresh street food favourites. Grab your dinner, find a spot on the sand and watch the sun set over the Atlantic. Our favourite – has to be the Crab Dog with a side of Katsu Fries!
-
For delicious home comforts, head to Rockleigh Takeaway in Mortehoe, then stroll the coastal path towards Morte Point to see if you can spot the local grey seals bobbing in the surf. Our favourites are the Thai Chicken Curry or a Beef Stroganoff with a brownie to finish.
-
Fancy traditional fish and chips? No holiday here is complete without a visit to Squires Fish & Chips in Braunton. Take your takeaway to Putsborough Beach, spread out a blanket and watch the waves roll in.
-
Staying local? Head to Biffen’s Kitchen in Croyde for a Katsu Curry or Moroccan loaded flatbreads. Perfect for an easy dinner on Croyde Beach as the sun goes down.
Make It a Summer to Remember
North Devon’s beaches feel extra special in the evening — quieter, calmer and full of simple pleasures. Bring a blanket, pick up your favourite takeaway, and soak up every minute of that soft evening light. We love sitting and watching the surfers catching the last waves.
